While in the anesthesia room, they wanted to give him a sedative before surgery. They handed us a little cup with the medicine in it. It was small and difficult to handle (and we wanted to make sure he drank it all) so we tried to make him drink it. He threw an absolute fit like he did at the fair. In the middle of the waiting room, he yelled "I do it MYSELF!" Mr. Independent will need to start paying rent if that keeps up. It makes me laugh when I think about it. He's so funny, he doesn't want anyone to help him.
Shelby took him in to get gassed. They did a great job of prepping him and showed him the mask an hour before and even let him pick out a fragrance(basically they swipe the inside with a flavored chapstick). He was a champ!
Two hours later they were finished and he was waking up. He hated the IV in his hand. Poor kid. They gave him a child epidural so he couldn't walk for several hours. They glued his incisions so no external stitches, which is nice. Poor Noah has two incisions each about 2 to 3 inches long just below his belly. Ouch.
When we got out of recovery and back into the room, we tried our best to calm him down. The nurse gave him some italian ice and he calmed down, well at least sort of. I was trying to help him because he wasn't pushing it up and was getting more paper than ice. He looked at me and said, "I do it MYSELF!" There's my Noah! By 5:00PM he was acting normal, and trying to wrestle with his brother.
Today it's like nothing happened yesterday. He has mentioned to us a couple times that his tummy hurts, but it hasn't slowed him down. He's trying to be as physical as he was before. Trying to restrict his activities has been tough. The only way to do it is to keep him and his brother apart. But even then Noah will try to climb up on stuff, or dance around, or jump over stuff, or run. He's going to wear us out!
Bubbles = no worries!
