Weekend Recap

We were so lucky to have my brother, Mindy, Gavynn and Riley come and visit us over the long weekend.  The boys were beyond excited to have their cousins here to pester play with.

Right before they arrived, the boys found what they think is the greatest thing in the whole world...frogs in our back yard.  Just a warning...this blog post is frog-heavy.

Our butterfly net and bug container are now officially a frog net and 'frog box'.

Friday morning we headed to Millenium Park to play in the water, enjoy the sunshine and have a picnic.

I thought it was funny how the kids sat on the blanket to eat their lunch.  Did they not want to socialize?

After Millenium Park, we headed back to the house to torment the frogs some more.

Some of the poor frogs who probably were caught multiple times.

My gorgeous niece, Gavynn.

Not sure what Noah is doing here, but his face cracked me up.  I'm sure it had something to do with frogs...

My brother, Scott.  Those of you who know me know how painful it was for me to type 'Scott'.  This is actually Bub.  That sounds much better.  The boys even call him Uncle Bub.  Well, they used to.  Seth has now decided that he wants to call him Uncle Bug.  We try to correct him, but he doesn't want to change it.

Saturday we went to Boulder Ridge Exotic Animal Park in Alto.

Gavynn feeding the llama.  I think she named it 'Steve'.

I was so proud of Noah that he worked up the nerve to hold the little chick!

Seth wasn't interested in holding anything, but was O.K. with touching the duckling.

Chris in the aviary with parakeets.  He called himself the bird whisperer.  Bub, Mindy, Riley and Gavynn all went in and fed the birds.  My boys took one step in and ran screaming from the building.  The employees said that the birds were being 'friendly' that day.  If being friendly is pooping on my arm and biting my toes, then O.K., they were friendly.  The word I would use is 'aggressive'.

I really like this picture of Seth.  I know he's a boy, but he's beautiful.

Riley was relaxed on the tractor ride and got in some snuggles.

Lemurs know how to relax.

Monday we went to Saugatuck to the beach to fly kites and run in the sand.

After the beach we came home and got out the slip and slide...

...and of course caught more frogs (or the same frogs again).

We didn't forget about Brody!

The insanely adorable Riley goofing off with Noah.

We ended the day with snow cones on the deck!

We were all sad that they had to go.  All of the kids slept in the boys' room and even though the boys (my boys) bugged the crap out of Gavynn with questions, I know that they had a great time.  Gav even lost a tooth while she was here and the tooth fairy made her first visit to our house.  Whenever we went anywhere, Riley wanted to ride with the boys...it was so sweet.  They laughed and bickered like cousins who were around each other all of the time.  One of my favorite times was listening to the 3 boys playing 'I Spy' in the backseat.  So cute.

It was a fantastic weekend!
