Renaissance Fair and Other Stuff

It's about time we updated the blog!  We are in the process of finishing our basement, so our evenings and weekends have been quite busy.  We've managed to squeeze in a few family outings other than trips to Home Depot.

A few weeks ago we went to Holly, MI to the Renaissance Fair.  Chris and I enjoyed going before the kids came along, but this is our first trip since we had the boys.  We think they enjoyed it just as much as we did.

This game was perfect for brothers.  Sit on a log and try to smack the other one hard enough to knock him off.  Noah liked falling off the log the best.  Noah's on the right, Seth on the left.

Jousting has now become of the boys' favorite games.  They hold out their arms and run toward each other yelling 'Let's joust!'.  Maybe we shouldn't have taken them to see jousting at the renaissance fair.  Let's just say that our experience there will also be reflected in their costumes on Halloween.

They also rode ponies...

Played in the kids area...

And watched some shows...

We sat in the front row at the mud show.  It was fun, but wasn't good for our camera.  A big blob of mud hit the camera lens and now it won't open or close properly.  Oops.

Chris was called on stage by this magician at his show.  It was a really funny show and the performer kept talking to Chris all throughout the show...even after he went back to his seat.  The boys loved it.

A couple of weeks ago, Grandma and Grandpa came to visit.  They wanted to see the boys play baseball and they also generously agreed to watch them while Chris and I went on our annual trip to Six Flags.

Luckily while they were here, the Art Prize exhibits were still downtown.  We spent a very fun evening walking around and then went out for a nice dinner.

Seth is in the blue.  Noah is in red.

While we were off enjoying all things creepy, Grandma and Grandpa took the boys to their swim class and their last baseball game.

Seth & Noah had their last baseball game of the fall season.  Grandma took some cute pictures of them.  The boys were excited to get medals again for their hard work this season!

Seth and Noah have been taking swim classes on Saturday mornings for several weeks.  They still love the water...especially Seth.  These pictures are also courtesy of Grandma!

Noah left, Seth right.

This past weekend, Seth and I had the opportunity to spend quite a bit of quality time together.  We went to Build-A-Bear and Seth made a new friend for himself and for Noah.

He rubbed the heart for Noah's bear on his nose and gave it a kiss.

Noah's new friend is Batman Bear.  Seth's is Spiderman Bear.

We also made pumpkin cake pops.  He was determined that he was going to decorate one all by himself.

I think he did a great job making his monster cake pop.

Seth & Noahisms:
  • When we got to the renaissance fair, the boys noticed a lot of people in costumes.  Noah said 'We should have brought our Power Ranger costumes!'.  Ummm...wrong kind of costumes.
  • As they were setting up for the joust, Noah said 'It's just like we will rock you!'.  Who remembers 'A Knights Tale'?
  • After the joust, Noah looked at me and said very seriously 'Sword fights are bad'.  I'm glad he recognizes that!
  • On the way to baseball one evening, I had to convince Seth why it wasn't nice to tell the coach and his teammates that his name is Noah.  He kept saying 'But I'm still Seth'.  On another trip to baseball, I had to tell him that it wasn't O.K. to switch shirts with Noah.  He's persistent.
