Wisconsin Dells

We're back from a few fun-filled days in the Wisconsin Dells!  We arrived in town and decided that it would be a good idea to eat at the place with all of the moose on the cars.

The theme continued...
(Chris, Noah & Seth)

That evening we went to a magic show.  We couldn't take any pictures during the show, so we snapped this one outside.  The boys LOVED it...especially Noah.  He clapped so loud after each illusion and enthusiastically raised his hand every time they asked for a volunteer.  While Seth enjoyed it, he wasn't as in to it as Noah.  Seth, however, sat in a seat on the end and the magician plucked him out of the audience to participate quickly in a handkerchief act (Seth said 'There's something inside it to make it fly').  Noah was disappointed and at intermission he asked to change seats with Seth.  It didn't work out for Noah...it doesn't help that they are identical twins and had on very similar shirts.  The magician likely wouldn't have even noticed that it was a different kid.

We spent most of one day at Noah's Ark....America's largest waterpark!  Seth was the daredevil that day.  He kept wanting to try the bigger, faster waterslides.  Chris happily went along with him.  Noah was more happy going on the slides that the four of us could ride as a family.  We spent a lot of time on the lazy river, in the wave pool, going down slides and getting some sun.  I also had a first...a little boy in line in front of Noah and me asked 'Are you his mommy or his grandma?'.  I realized I need to re-think my waterpark attire/apprearance.

(Yes, we feed Seth even though it doesn't look like it.  He eats more than me!)

After a long day at the waterpark, we relaxed at a great restaurant situated beside the river.  It was gorgeous and the food was delicious.

Seth

Noah was trying to give himself rabbit ears.

At least 3 times each meal Chris and I have to say 'Please sit in your seat properly!'.  These two cannot seem to put their booties where they should be. I have no idea how 'perching' is a comfortable position to eat.  I give you Exhibit A (Noah) and Exhibit B (Seth):

Puppy dog eyes to get Daddy to take us for ice cream.  It worked!

We rode a duck!  Somehow Chris and I both reached this age in life and neither one of us had ridden a duck.  The Dells seemed like just the place to do it.

Noah

Beautiful sandstone lined the river.

Seth

We asked the driver to participate in our silly picture.

We bought the cheesy tourist photo...again!  We said we wanted a silly picture and the photographer suggested we pretend to fight.  I'm not sure why he suggested it, but we went along with it and the boys were happy because one of their favorite things right now is to put up their fists and pretend to fight.

Because one boat trip isn't enough, we also went on a boat tour of the Upper Dells.  This tour was a little longer, with two stops and more beautiful sandstone (so.much.sandstone...we took a million pictures and most of them look the same).

Seth

They called this one 'Blackhawk's Profile'

My favorite part was when we stopped and took a walk through Witches Gulch.

Stand Rock

A german shepherd jumped across.

We walked through downtown Dells.  Outside of Ripley's, the boys wanted to see how they measured up to the tallest man.

Of course, we played a little miniature golf...

We also ate at Paul Bunyan's Cook Shanty.  In the Dells they apparently like to give out funny things to wear on your head.

We took a drive to Devil's Lake to do some exploring.

Noah is still working to perfect his rock skipping skills.

While Seth was more than happy to climb up this rock, he was not so thrilled about getting his picture taken.

We wanted to hike up the hill to see Balanced Rock, but we got a little (O.K.,  a lot) nervous about going up the very rocky, narrow trail with the boys and decided we went far enough.  We took a few pictures and carefully came back down the trail.

We ate lunch at Buffalo Phil's and had our food delivered to our table by train!  I think I was as excited by it as the boys were.

When there wasn't any food coming out, they sent the train down with bubbles...and Ernie.

We didn't spend the whole trip out and about.  We also spent quality time relaxing and swimming in the pool.  Seth would have stayed in the pool all day, but Noah often swam for a bit and then declared 'I'm done' and would get out.  He was a little cold...
In his defense, he didn't feel 100% while we were there.  We took him to the doctor when we got back to town just to make sure everything is O.K.  Overall, he's fine and that kid was such a trooper.  He never says he doesn't feel good.  He pretty much amazes me with how resilient he is.

We all enjoyed our trip to the Dells and I doubt it will be our last.  There are so many things to do and see, there wasn't any way we could have done everything in our short time there.  I love family vacations.
