Myrtle Beach

We are back home after a fun, spring break trip to Myrtle Beach!  We kept ourselves really busy and took WAY too many pictures.  Here are just a few...

Our flight left very early from Chicago, so we went the day before and stayed the night.  We had some time to kill, so we wandered around IKEA (and might have picked up a few things).

The 'jumping picture' has become one of their favorites.

They were supposed to be sleeping.

Seth said 'The plane is saying 'Hi' to me'.

Not too shabby of a view from our room.

We took a dolphin watch boat tour and saw zero dolphins, so we basically paid for a boat ride.  They boys loved it, though, because it was windy and the water was choppy.  The boat bounced all over the place.  They didn't even care that we didn't see dolphins.

There are a ton of seafood buffets to choose from in Myrtle Beach.  Luckily for us, we picked a great one!  There were so many choices and everything was delicious.  The boys were reluctant, at first, because they thought there was only going to be seafood.  They stuffed themselves and didn't eat anything that came from the sea.  Since it was vacation, we turned them loose at the buffet.  We let them eat whatever they wanted and they went to the buffet on their own.  They told me 'You've never said 'yes' so much!'.

Seth was a little enthusiastic and overdid it.  He didn't even want ice cream!  After we left the restaurant, Chris jokingly said we should go and ride go karts.  Seth said 'Great idea, Daddy....nope'.  We drove by the restaurant several times in the days after and Seth referred to it as 'the scene of the crime'.  He also asked to go back.  We didn't.

We also found a super fun mini golf course.

We spent one morning at the aquarium.  We planned that outing because the forecast showed rain.  It didn't rain, but it definitely was windy.

We got to touch jellies!

The aquarium was a part of a shopping and entertainment area called Broadway at the Beach.

The boys wanted to buy every shark tooth necklace they saw.  We limited it to two.  Noah accessorized every day with both necklaces, a bracelet and a necklace he got at the seafood buffet worn as a bracelet.  I thought he looked pretty cute.

One evening we had tornado warnings and a good, southern thunderstorm.  There was quite the light show and thunder.

The boys constantly asked to go swimming.  We would have spent the entire time in the pool or on the beach if it was up to them.  We didn't spend all of our time there, clearly, but we did spend a lot.

Every day the boys looked for seashells.

One last picture from the balcony before we checked out.

Our flight out of Myrtle Beach wasn't scheduled until 10:00 pm, so first up in filling our time was go karts.

That evening we went to Pirates Voyage dinner and show.  It was so fun!  The food was great and the show was really entertaining.

My boys at the pre-show.

We realized that we didn't have many pictures of the four of us from the trip, so we bought the cheesy photos they took when we arrived.

For this one, we were supposed to swing our arm and say 'Argh'.  It is hilariously bad.  We do not make good pirates.

So...our flight was scheduled to depart at 10:00 p.m.  While we were at the pirate show, I received an email with updated flight information.  Our flight was delayed and we were looking at a 12:02 a.m. departure.  I was hoping it was a joke, wrong or something.  It wasn't.

We had to have the rental car back at 8:00, so we spent some quality time at the airport.

Seth slept a little in the airport before we left, Noah didn't and got the late-night sillies.  He decided to wear his neck pillow as a hat and wore it like that while boarding.

We learned a few things while away:

  • At Zaxby's, we sent the boys to the restroom to wash their hands.  They both left, but Seth came running back almost immediately and asked 'What's the difference between a rooster and hen?'.  I laughed and told him, he's a rooster and needs to go there.  Noah walked up at that moment and simply said 'Uh oh'.
  • O'Hare is pretty empty at 2:00 a.m.  I'm OK if I never see that again, especially with kids in tow.
  • Lastly, we learned that we need to write down the hilarious, random questions the boys asked.  They were so good while we were away.  Those boys are full of personality and sass and they are growing up way too quickly.
