The Jenkins family has been busy with many things since the last post. . We got the boat out and went tubing/fishing. They boys started school and now have school functions and activities. The boys ran for their school fundraiser Color the Park. Two football games so far.
5th Grade - we have 5th graders! SMH - I cannot believe it's their last year of elementary school.
The first week of school was a short one - with a Friday off before Labor Day weekend. Shelby took the boys to the zoo and to look at puppies. It sounds like fun was had by all while I worked. The boys had been talking about dogs for 6 months and narrowed down their list to about 100 dogs that they wanted. Shelby and I decided recently that we better come up with short list if we plan on letting the kids get a dog in 2019. More on that later...
Color the Park - They had a blast as usual. Thanks again to those that they asked for contributions. They are appreciative.
For a quick dental check in - Noah is currently several teeth ahead in the lost tooth department. You will see by the gaps in his smile.
It's football season once again and Noah is back in uniform. Seth's sport fell through and he is currently enjoying his hiatus from any sports. He got to help out with the chain gang during one of the games. It's too bad for him he still has some chores, like cutting the grass and stuff when is brother is at practice.
As mentioned earlier, Shelby and I had to come up with a short list of dogs. One of the dogs on the list was a Vizsla. As I was looking for breeders for 2019 litter options, I came across one in Michigan that just happened to have a puppy that needed a home. She was 14 weeks old and "sort of" potty trained. Shelby and I loved the idea of skipping weeks 8 through 14 of puppy ownership (does that sound bad?). We also figured a dog is inevitable so we bit the bullet. So on Sunday Sept 16th, the boys and I drove to the thumb of Michigan to look at the puppy (from Sunrise Vizslas). Shelby had to work otherwise she would have joined us. As we expected, she came home with us. So Luca is the newest addition to the house! Gone are the days of quiet and peaceful and here are the days of "Where is she?" and "what is she doing?" and "off!". Let the fun begin. The boys have been doing great with her and have taken on some new responsibilities. They walk her every morning and have been cleaning up after her. We are currently socializing her and she has been to two football games, some football practices, a fundraising fun run, and a dog park. The first football game she definitely scared uncomfortable with the noise but she still managed. The second time she went like it was normal stuff. We took her to the dog park and she wanted to play with the large dogs in the large dog area. She chased them down the fence line (and she's fast!). The boys better join cross country and run with her when they are older.

Seth agreed this puppy was too crazy though.

DOG!?
So near the tip of the Thumb of Michigan is windmill country. This is less than a mile from our destination. We see this a lot in the Midwest.
Luca came right to the fence to greet the boys. Her sisters were a little shy yet.
Luca's first car ride
She crawled into Seth's lap for safety for the long ride home.
"Who are these people and what is this place?" - what's my name again
It took a day or two and before she started to settle in -
by Tuesday morning we saw full body wags, puppy play, overall mischief

Noah running with Luca
She got all sorts of attention at the fundraiser.
Out for a walk before the football game started.
Seth's doing the chain gang, I'll just mosey over to his seat.
The monkey has since lost both legs. Please let this be the limit of her destruction in our house!
ODDS AND ENDS
Shelby finished Uncle Bub's blanket.
She probably should have entered it for ArtPrize.
It matches everything - and nothing.
We have had some great sunsets this fall
So on our pond this year we have seen many different types of wildlife
Frogs, Snakes, Fish, Snapping Turtles, Ducks, and lots of Geese - we won't talk about the Geese.
The last two years we have seen a variety of Heron move in as well.
Blue Heron
Great White Heron
Green Heron - These guys nest in a tree right in our backyard.
We are going to miss summer
- Chris
