Memorial Day Weekend

Hope everyone has had a relaxing and fun long weekend!  We are grateful for the service and sacrifice of those in our military and remember them on this day.

We tried to pack in as much as we could, as usual.  The boys are always excited when we get a long weekend to torment spend more time with each other.  Saturday was filled with yard work.  I planted flowers, Chris dug up and moved some landscaping and we both did a lot of weeding to get the yard looking nice for the summer.

Sunday morning I took the boys out for breakfast and ran a few errands.  After that, we went to Kidz Funfest that was held at 5/3 Ballpark.  The ballpark was open with a few activities within it and there were several carnival rides and games in the parking lot.  It wasn't too busy or too big.  The weather was perfect and we all enjoyed it.

This guy on stilts was insane.  He told the boys to run through his legs while he was juggling.  Not smart in my opinion, but he was incredibly nice to the boys.  Noah gave him a high five first.

Eek!  I was certain they were going to knock him over.

Noah and Daddy

They loved the funhouse and wanted to go in it 1 million times.  We negotiated and they went twice.

They each had the opportunity to learn a karate move and break a board.  They were soooo shy when they first started.  Neither of them wanted to yell (shocking!).  Noah came out of his shell first.  Seth stayed a little wary the entire time.   They both were very excited, though, when they were finished and got to keep the board.  Mr. Austin was the one working with them and he was no-nonsense.  I think the boys need to get into martial arts!

Photographic evidence I was there.

Seth looks thrilled.

After funfest, I told the boys that I'd get them a milkshake if they tried to ride their bikes without training wheels.  They both tried, but Noah gave up much sooner than Seth.  Neither one of them got the hang of it yet, but we'll keep working on it this summer.  When Noah decided he was all done after a few minutes, Seth reminded him of what was important by yelling to him "It's O.K. Noah!  You still get a milkshake because you tried!".

 I baked.  :)

We finally have a firepit!  The boys are no longer terrified of bonfires, so we decided it was time.  We got the makings for smores and Chris built our first bonfire at home. Yay!  The boys played some football before making dessert.  Some of the pictures have a little smoke in them because the photographer was sitting by the fire and was too lazy to get up and move from the smoke.

If they actually caught the football, they said that it was a touchdown.  This is Noah's touchdown dance.

Seth's touchdown dance involved a little more booty shaking.

Today we went to the Memorial Day parade in Jenison.  We already picked our seats, so the boys had to pick something else.  Noah in red, Seth in blue.

So...now we have a bigger table on our deck and a firepit.  Yes, we are accepting visitors!!!  Come see us!
